Cylindrical
cable reels are designed for storage of large cable lengths,
as required by mobile open-cast mining devices and crane-systems
with long travel distances. Cable transport- and rewinding vehicles
of STEMMANN-TECHNIK enable the first-time winding on of the
required cable as well as handling works within the open-cast
mining, e.g. laying of cables on the site.

| At the interface
of stationary cable and cable to be reeled slipring assemblies
transmit main- and control current as well as measuring data.
Fibre optic rotary connectors serve for the data transmission.
Diverting units for cable-sparing cable guidance and extensive
further accessories grant an application-optimised scope of
supply and services. |

The
motor cable reel serves for the power- and data transfer of
the scraper in the open-cast mining of Schleenhain. Due to the
rough, extremely dusty ambient conditions all components of
the motor cable reel were designed for a certain protection
class. The reel body is made of stainless steel. For data transmission
between scraper and distributing centre a glass fibre-cable
with 12 fibre optics, which is integrated in the medium voltage
cable, as well as converted plugs of type “E 2000”
are used.
